Senator Eteng Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has urged Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and remain committed to building a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive nation.
Eteng made the call in his Independence Day message to Nigerians as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
The senator felicitated with the people of Cross River Central and Nigerians across the country, describing the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s journey and renew commitment to national development.
He acknowledged the difficult economic conditions faced by families and businesses in recent years, noting that the economic reforms had placed significant burdens on citizens.
Eteng, however, expressed optimism that the country was moving beyond the difficult phase of the reforms towards greater economic stability, growth and prosperity.
He called on Nigerians to reject division, despair and cynicism, while embracing unity, hard work, resilience and collective responsibility.
” Nigeria belongs to all of us, and the task of building the country we desire requires the contribution of every citizen,” he said.
The senator noted that although challenges remained, Nigerians could build a better future through courage, patriotism and a shared commitment to national development.
He said such commitment would help create a Nigeria characterised by greater prosperity, security, opportunity and hope.
Eteng also paid tribute to the nation’s heroes past, urging Nigerians to draw inspiration from their sacrifices and remain committed to building a united and prosperous country.
”On behalf of my family and the people of Cross River Central Senatorial District, I wish every Nigerian a Happy 66th Independence Anniversary,” he said.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Nigeria and its people.
