The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged voters in Sokoto State to uphold peace, respect the rule of law and support democratic development.
‎
‎INEC’s Public Affairs Officer in Sokoto State, Hassan Sarki-Gendane, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
‎Mr Sarki-Gendane urged eligible citizens to participate actively in the electoral process and maintain confidence in the electoral institution.
‎
‎He reminded registered voters that collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would begin on October 9 at designated collection centres.
‎
‎He advised voters to collect their PVCs and obtain electoral information only through official INEC channels to avoid misinformation.
‎
‎According to him, the Commission remains committed to conducting elections in accordance with the law and ensuring that every vote is properly accounted for.
‎
‎Mr Sarki-Gendane urged eligible voters to participate peacefully and responsibly in the electoral process, noting that citizens have the right to freely choose their preferred candidates.
‎
‎He congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and called on citizens to continue supporting the country’s democratic development.
