Nine Killed in Ogun Road Crash Along Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the death of nine persons in a road crash along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway.

‎FRSC’s Ogun sector spokesman, Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

‎Mr Odunsi said the incident occurred at about 4:55 p.m. in the Bethel area along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway.

‎‎He said the incident involved a white Toyota Hiace commercial bus, registration number 14B-299DT, belonging to Delta Line, and a white Sino truck, registration number AAB162XD, belonging to Bill Gas Solution.

‎‎According to him, nine people—three males and six females—were involved in the crash, and all were killed.

‎‎“The FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene at about 4:58 p.m., two minutes after receiving the report. The deceased victims were evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Ijebu-Ode, while the vehicles were towed to Ilese Police Station by the Ilese Police MTD,” he said.

‎‎The sector commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, particularly commercial vehicle operators, to drive with caution during rainfall.

‎‎Mr Ogunjobi advised motorists to obey speed limits, maintain safe following distances and avoid behaviours that could endanger other road users.

‎‎He noted that speeding on wet roads was particularly dangerous because reduced tyre grip and poor visibility could make it difficult for motorists to control their vehicles or stop safely.

‎‎The sector commander commiserated with the victims’ families and urged all road users to make safety their priority at all times.
