UMCN Presents Vehicles to Senior Clergy in Recognition of Service, Leadership Philosophy ‎

‎By Emmanuel Awari -Jalingo

‎‎Bishop Ande I. Emmanuel, Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church (UMC) Nigeria Episcopal Area, has presented two brand-new vehicles to two senior church officials in recognition of their service.

‎‎This is contained in a statement by Rev. Filibus Bakari Auta, Lead Director of Communication for the UMC Nigeria, Cameroon and Senegal Episcopal Area.

‎‎Auta described it as a demonstration of leadership that values dedication, recognises commitment and provides support to those serving within the institution.

‎‎According to him, the presentation goes beyond the material value of the vehicles, symbolising appreciation, trust and the importance of strengthening those entrusted with responsibilities.

‎‎He noted that leadership should not be measured solely by the authority or position an individual occupies, but also by the opportunities created for others to succeed and contribute meaningfully to an organisation.

‎‎Auta further expressed optimism that the gesture would encourage a culture of service, recognition and institutional growth within the church.

‎‎He also prayed for continued wisdom, grace and strength for Bishop Emmanuel as he leads the episcopal area towards greater unity, growth and transformation.

‎‎”The presentation raises a broader question about leadership and institutional development: how can organisations recognise the contributions of those who work behind the scenes?.

‎‎”Providing vehicles to senior officials can support mobility and the discharge of official responsibilities, depending on the terms under which the vehicles are provided. It can also serve as a gesture of appreciation for service – he said.

‎‎“However, the wider significance of such an initiative ultimately depends on its impact on institutional efficiency, accountability and the effectiveness of the beneficiaries in carrying out their duties.

‎‎”For the United Methodist Church Nigeria Episcopal Area, the gesture offers an opportunity to highlight the relationship between leadership, staff motivation and organisational development.

‎‎”The central lesson is that leadership is not only about directing an institution; it is also about building the capacity of the people who help sustain it,” he stated.

‎‎The beneficiaries are Rev. Eli Sule Yakku, Administrative Assistant to the Bishop and the Dean of Cabinet.
