In his opening remarks, Rear Admiral Ayafa welcomed guests and reflected on the journey of the 37RC, highlighting their experiences at the NDA and their subsequent service to the nation.

He paid tribute to the Commandant who pioneered the degree programme, Maj Gen Paul Chabri Tarfa (Rtd) CON mni, and the Special Guest of Honour, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd) CFR, a former Cadets Brigade Commander at the NDA.

The 37RC has a rich legacy of producing exceptional leaders who have served in various capacities, both within and outside the military. Some notable alumni include a former Chief of Army Staff, Generals, Admirals, and Air Marshals, professors, and PhD holders. The course has also produced leaders who have shaped doctrine, strategy, and innovation, and have made significant contributions to national security and development.

Major General Paul Tarfa expressed pride in the achievements of the 37RC, noting that the course has produced some of the best officers the academy has ever produced. He commended the alumni for maintaining unity and friendship, emphasizing that the nation is strong when its citizens remain united.

The 37RCAA has demonstrated a commitment to service, not only during their time in the military but also in retirement. Rear Admiral Ayafa emphasised the importance of giving back to society, noting that the association remains committed to extending its impact and supporting the nation. He urged members to continue to uphold the values of courage, loyalty, discipline, and camaraderie that have defined their journey.

The 40th anniversary dinner was a celebration of milestones achieved and a reflection on the journey of the 37RC. The event honoured the memories of fallen brothers, with a moment of silence observed in their honor. The alumni also paid tribute to their families, who endured long absences and uncertainties during their military service.

As the 37RCAA looks to the future, it is poised to continue its legacy of service, leadership, and excellence. The association’s commitment to unity, discipline, and camaraderie will remain a guiding principle, as its members continue to make a positive impact in their communities and the nation at large.

The anniversary dinner concluded with a renewed commitment to support one another and to continue to serve the nation with integrity and distinction. As the 37RCAA embarks on its next chapter, its members remain dedicated to upholding the values that have defined their journey and to making a lasting impact in the years to come.

The association’s future plans include continuing to mentor and support upcoming leaders, as well as engaging in community development projects that benefit society. By doing so, the 37RCAA aims to leave a lasting legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.
