Former Ghana captain Abedi Ayew Pele has promised to play an active role in helping restore the pride of Ghanaian football.
This came after a private meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Iddi Adams, held today in Accra.
The meeting focused on ways to revive the Black Stars and improve football development across the country. Abedi Pele told reporters afterward that the conversation was part of ongoing efforts to prepare for upcoming matches and long-term goals. He mentioned that he and the minister had set targets in previous meetings, and they were pleased to have achieved the initial steps. With important games still ahead, he stressed the need for proper planning to stay on course.
Abedi Pele, often referred to as “the Maestro,” explained that he was invited by Minister Adams and welcomed the opportunity to contribute his experience. He shared that some of their discussions would remain confidential for now but assured the public that the efforts would soon bear fruit. He emphasized that sports personalities must always be ready to serve when called upon, comparing athletes to soldiers always prepared for duty.
The Sports Minister warmly welcomed Abedi Pele’s involvement, describing his visit as a major boost for their ongoing projects. He praised the football legend’s unmatched contribution to Ghanaian football and expressed hope that working closely with figures like Abedi Pele would lead to greater success on and off the pitch.
The minister also recalled the positive results from earlier collaborations and voiced optimism that more victories would follow with the right support. The ministry, he said, is determined to reconnect with all key players in the sports world to rebuild Ghana’s sporting image.
Abedi Pele’s commitment to national football comes at a crucial time as Ghana looks to reclaim its place among Africa’s top footballing nations. His vast experience, combined with government efforts, could offer new hope to the many fans eager to see the Black Stars shine once again.
