Abia Police Command Rescues 4 Chinese Expatriates, 2 Officers

The Abia State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and other sister security agencies, has successfully rescued four Chinese expatriates and two escort police officers.

The rescue operation followed a distress report received on April 4, 2025, at about 17:30hrs, about an ambush and attack on the group by unidentified armed men while en route to their company site located at Agukwu-Amaya, Ndundu Community, Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA.

The attack resulted in the deaths of the manager, Mr. Quan, his colleague Mr. Cai, and Inspector Audu Saidu, one of the escort officers. The assailants also stole Inspector Saidu’s rifle. The police received the distress call and quickly sprang into action, launching a search mission in a joint operation with the military and other sister agencies.

Three Chinese expatriates were rescued unhurt, while one sustained injuries. Inspector Uba Ahmed, who was also rescued, suffered a gunshot injury to his leg. Both the injured officer and expatriate are receiving treatment at FMC Abakaliki. The police continued their search and rescue efforts, and on April 5, 2025, tactical team operatives led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) visited the crime scene.

Through collaborative action involving the police, military, and local community members, Inspector Ijeagwa Friday was also rescued unhurt. The police are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.

Abia State Police Commissioner, CP Danladi Isa, assured the public that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. He urged residents to remain security-conscious, go about their lawful activities without fear, and support the police by reporting suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities to the nearest police station or calling the Command’s emergency lines: 08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, 08079210006.
