
The Ogun State government has announced the appointment of 1,200 political assistants as part of its plan to bring government closer to the people and improve participation at the grassroots.Â
The decision, which was made public by the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, is aimed at ensuring better communication between the people and the state government.
The new assistants were selected across the 236 wards of the state, with five persons appointed in each ward. Their role is to act as a link between communities and the government by sharing the needs of the people with the authorities and also relaying government decisions and programs back to the wards.
According to the state government, the initiative is in line with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s campaign promise to give all wards a sense of belonging in the administration’s development plans. The new appointees are
