ADC Decries Alarming Rise In Killings, Kidnappings In Nasarawa

The opposition African Democratic Congress in Nasarawa State has called on the state government to find lasting solutions to the insecurity bedeviling the state.

A statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Idris Ojoko, stated that the increasing level of insecurity, particularly in the southern part of the state, was unacceptable.

The opposition party expressed deep concern over the persistent and alarming rise in killings and kidnappings across parts of the state.

ADC lamented that in recent months, communities in Lafia, Obi, Keana, and Doma Local Government Areas have suffered repeated incidents of abductions and gruesome killings, yet the response from the state government has been slow and largely ineffective.

“Despite the magnitude of these attacks, no significant arrests or meaningful prosecutions have been made to demonstrate the government’s resolve to confront this menace,” the party alleged.

The opposition party reminded the government that its primary constitutional responsibility was the protection of lives and property, which it must uphold with utmost seriousness.

“As a political party committed to the welfare of the people, the ADC is worried that these criminal activities continue unabated while families mourn, communities live in fear, and citizens lose confidence in the ability of the state to protect them.

“The administration of Engr. Abdullahi Sule must act decisively and show genuine commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the people of Nasarawa State.

“The ADC calls on the state government to urgently strengthen security architecture, prioritize intelligence-driven operations, and take concrete steps to restore peace across affected areas.

“Farmers must be able to go to their farms without fear, and investors need renewed assurance that Nasarawa State remains safe for business and development,” the statement reads further.

A recent attack by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Keana and Doma Local Government Areas of the State has reportedly claimed the lives of multiple individuals.
