End Plateau Killing – David Mark Tells FG

Former Senate President, David Mark.

Nigerian sports enthusiast and former Senate President, Senator David Mark, has delivered a powerful message to the Super Eagles as they gear up for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2024 tournament kicking off in Côte d’Ivoire on January 13, 2024.

Senator Mark emphasised the importance of unity and playing as one cohesive unit throughout the competition. He urged the players, under the guidance of coach Jose Peseiro, to prioritize teamwork and relentlessly pursue goals against their opponents.

In his message, Senator Mark acknowledged the immense weight of expectation on the Super Eagles’ shoulders. He reminded the players that they carry the hopes and dreams of over 200 million Nigerians, and their performance will not only reflect their individual skills but also stand as a testament to the nation’s resilience and sportsmanship.

While bringing home the coveted AFCON trophy remains the ultimate goal, Senator Mark stressed the importance of embracing the spirit of fair play, honour, and camaraderie throughout the tournament. He encouraged the players to showcase not only their athletic prowess but also their respect for their fellow athletes and appreciation for the diversity and talent on display.

It’s worth noting that Senator Mark is no stranger to cheering on the Super Eagles to victory. In 2013, as the then President of the Senate, he led the Nigerian delegation to South Africa to witness the Super Eagles clinch the AFCON title under coach Steven Keshi. His unwavering support and belief in the team’s potential make his message even more impactful.

Senator Mark concluded his message by praying that the Super Eagles’ actions on the field will exemplify the values of fair play, honor, and camaraderie, setting an inspiring example for the world to witness and admire.

With the AFCON tournament just around the corner, Senator David Mark’s message serves as a timely reminder of the responsibility and opportunity that lie ahead for the Super Eagles. Their journey on the Ivorian soil promises to be filled with passion, determination, and hopefully, another chapter of glory for Nigerian football.

We wish the Super Eagles the very best for a successful AFCON 2024 campaign. May they bring home the trophy and unite the nation in celebration once again!.
