Victor Osimhen maintained his red-hot form in front of goal, finding the net as Galatasaray secured a commanding 3-0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir in the Süper Lig on Saturday. The Nigerian international was instrumental in a dominant display at RAMS Park that further solidified the Lions’ grip on the title race.
After a tightly contested first half, the home side broke the deadlock just before the hour mark. Defender Wilfried Singo rose highest to nod home from a corner in the 57th minute, finally breaching the resilient Başakşehir defense.
Osimhen then took center stage nine minutes later. In the 66th minute, he capitalized on some hesitant defending to fire past the goalkeeper, doubling the lead and effectively putting the game out of reach for the visitors. The result was sealed in the 84th minute when young forward Renato Nhaga came off the bench to add a third, capping off a polished team performance.
The victory keeps Galatasaray firmly on course in the Süper Lig title race, with Osimhen’s goals continuing to prove decisive.
Attention now turns to European competition, as Galatasaray prepares for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off tie away at Liverpool on Wednesday. Holding a slender 1-0 aggregate lead, the Turkish side will need a resilient display at Anfield to secure their place in the group stage. A win or any scoring draw would be enough to see them through.
