English golfer Lottie Woad made history when she won the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, becoming the first amateur since 2022 to claim a title on the Ladies European Tour.
The 21-year-old, who is currently the ranked as the top amateur golfer in the world, won by six shots after finishing 21 under par at Carton House.
Woad entered the final round with a strong seven-shot lead and continued her solid play, shooting a four-under-par 69 with five birdies and just one bogey.
Her steady performance secured a comfortable victory and marked a major moment in her golfing career.
Although her win could be seen as a clear step toward professional golf, Woad remains focused on completing her LPGA Tour membership requirements.
She still needs two more points to qualify and plans to continue her strong form at the Evian Championship next week.
The last amateur to win on the tour was Jana Melichova at the Czech Ladies Open three years ago.
Woad now joins a very short list of players to achieve this rare feat while yet to go professional.
