The Mayor of Calabar, Apostle Hon James Anam, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress to uphold unity, loyalty and discipline as the party prepares for its ward and local government congresses in Calabar Municipality scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.
Anam made the appeal during a stakeholders meeting attended by serving and former public office holders as well as party leaders in the municipality.
Addressing the gathering, the mayor stressed the need for party faithful to close ranks and work collectively to ensure a peaceful and successful exercise. He noted that internal cohesion remains critical to strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and positioning it for future electoral contests.
He urged members to subordinate personal interests to the broader objectives of the party, particularly as preparations gather momentum ahead of the next general elections.
Anam emphasized sustained support for President Bola Tinubu and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, maintaining that unity within Calabar Municipality would translate into electoral success at both the state and national levels.
The council chairman also cautioned against actions capable of undermining the peace and stability of the party, warning that any attempt to create division would be firmly addressed in line with party guidelines.
In their separate remarks, party leaders present reaffirmed their commitment to conducting hitch free congresses across all wards in the municipality. They pledged to sustain consultations and cooperation among stakeholders to deepen unity and strengthen the APC structure in Calabar Municipality.
