Rivers State, Nigeria – In a significant development ahead of the highly anticipated Ohanaeze Ndigbo national leadership elections, the influential grassroots organization “Anyị Anyị” has played a pivotal role in championing the emergence of Livingstone Buduka Wechie as the elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo – Rivers State Chapter.
Wechie, a lawyer, human rights activist & prominent member of Anyị Anyị since its inception in 2019, is also the Convener of Ọgbakọr Ndigbo na Rivers, a coalition advocating for equity in the leadership structure of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. Under his guidance, the group has been at the forefront of ensuring the constitutional principle of rotational leadership is upheld, allowing Rivers State its rightful turn to produce the next President General.
With the National President General election scheduled for January 10, 2025, Anyị Anyị has been instrumental in projecting Wechie & a front runner for the National President General position – Senator John Mbata, galvanizing support from key stakeholders and the broader Igbo communities in Rivers, Anioma, Benue and other parts of Nigeria. The organization’s efforts have underscored its commitment to unity and fairness, key tenets of its mission.
As the national election approaches, Anyị Anyị remains optimistic about the outcome, promising further updates and developments in the coming days. This milestone reflects the growing influence of grassroots movements in shaping the future of Igbo leadership and preserving the principles of justice and equity within the Ohanaeze framework.
