The ruling All Progressives Congress on Wednesday inaugurated its Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention, formally kick starting preparations for the party’s crucial gathering scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.
The ceremony, held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, drew top party leaders, national officers, and members of the newly constituted committee. A major highlight of the event was the appointment of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the South South Development Commission, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, as Secretary of the Venue Committee.
Ms. Akpabio will oversee the logistical and operational coordination of the convention venue, a responsibility regarded as central to the success of the event. Party leaders expressed confidence in her administrative expertise and experience, noting that her role will be instrumental in ensuring seamless planning and execution.
In his inaugural address, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda described the 2026 National Convention as a defining moment for the party. He emphasized that the convention must reflect unity, transparency, and internal democracy, urging committee members to uphold the highest standards of efficiency and inclusiveness.
The Committee Chairman, former Governor Aminu Bello Masari, thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in the team. He pledged that the committee would work with diligence and integrity to deliver a smooth and successful convention, calling on party members nationwide to support the process.
With the inauguration of the committee, the APC has taken a significant step toward organizing what it hopes will be a well coordinated and professionally executed national convention.
