The Bauchi State Government has taken a bold step toward economic transformation with the establishment of the Bauchi-Mingsheng Company, a mining firm set to explore and develop mineral resources such as monoxide, tin/columbite, and zircon in Toro and Dass Local Government Areas.
The initiative, approved during a State Executive Council meeting, was announced by the Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Maiwada Bello, during a press briefing on Friday. Bello said the firm will create jobs, attract investment, and boost internally generated revenue while fostering industrial growth in the state.
He recalled the 2023 visit of Governor Bala Mohammed to Shandong Province in China, where partnerships were formed to bring development to Bauchi across sectors like mining, agriculture, and tourism. “The governor’s efforts are yielding results with this agreement to collaborate with Mingsheng officials and technical personnel,” Bello stated.
The Bauchi-Mingsheng Company aims to support local industries reliant on critical raw materials for technology and construction, while also improving infrastructure such as roads and community facilities.
“If properly managed, the company will drive innovation and significantly enhance the living standards of Bauchi residents,” Bello emphasized.
He assured that the Ministry of Natural Resources Development will work diligently to lead efforts in revenue generation and sustainable resource management. “This marks a turning point for Bauchi’s industrial and economic landscape,” he added.
The government believes the new venture will position Bauchi as a thriving business hub while addressing unemployment and unlocking untapped economic potential.
