Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has unveiled a comprehensive 10-year development plan, dubbed the Benue State Development Plan (BSDP 2025-2034).
This ambitious blueprint aims to transform Benue State into a prosperous and resilient hub, leveraging its vast agricultural resources, arable lands, and hardworking populace.
The plan is designed to tackle the state’s numerous challenges, including socioeconomic neglect, infrastructure shortfall, unemployment, mismanagement of public resources, and insecurity. Governor Alia’s administration prioritizes guaranteeing security for its citizens, tackling challenges like communal conflicts, kidnapping, and banditry.
Benue State’s comparative advantage in agriculture will be optimized to drive economic growth, investment, and food security. The state aims to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, encouraging innovation and investment.
Governor Alia vows to address the state’s infrastructure deficit and decay, recognizing its critical link to growth and sustainable development.
The plan also focuses on developing human capacity to drive productivity, promote equitable opportunities, and protect vulnerable groups. Benue State aims to become a digitally inclusive, innovative, and connected society, leveraging technology to drive economic growth and improve quality of life.
The quality of governance will be improved through responsive leadership, equity, inclusiveness, citizen participation, and efficient service delivery. As Governor Alia noted, “We are laying the groundwork for a future where every citizen of the state has the opportunity to succeed, live in dignity, and contribute to the growth of our state”.
The BSDP 2025-2034 is a curated blueprint that will guide policymakers, investors, development partners, and citizens in building a more prosperous Benue State.
