In a significant development, the Olubadan-in-Council has unanimously nominated former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The nomination took place at a council meeting held at the New Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, on Monday.
The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, moved the motion for Ladoja’s nomination, which was seconded by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole. Oba Ajibola emphasised;
“We have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of Office to the new Olubadan.”
Oba Ladoja, who is the topmost chief in the Olubadan line of the Chieftaincy rung, is next in line to succeed the late 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025. The coronation date is pending approval from Governor Seyi Makinde.
