Abuja, Nigeria – June 27, 2024 – Senator Dr. Alex Usman Kadiri, a prominent Nigerian politician and former member of the 4th Senate, has died at the age of 82.
According to a family sources say, Senator Kadiri passed away at 2:00 pm today in Abuja, after a brief illness. His death comes just a week after celebrating his 82nd birthday at his country home in Odu, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Senator Dr. Alex Usman Kadiri, a dedicated public servant and a champion of the people,” said the family spokesperson. “He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of selfless service and commitment to the nation will never be forgotten.”
Throughout his distinguished career, Senator Kadiri served in various capacities, including as a member of the board and committee of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in 1981, Director-General of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources from 1990 to 1994, and senator representing Kogi East senatorial district from 1999 to 2007.
Born on June 21, 1942, Senator Kadiri was a Nigerian politician and a Roman Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Osude, and five children.
The family will announce burial arrangements in due course.
