Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has stepped in to address the leadership crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, summoning an emergency peace meeting aimed at reconciling warring factions and restoring calm within the party.
A dependable source at Government House, Calabar, confirmed that the governor, visibly concerned about the growing discord among party leaders, convened the meeting for 1:00 p.m. today, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office.
The meeting is expected to bring together members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) and the Forum of Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries to deliberate on grievances and chart a path toward reconciliation.
According to the source, “His Excellency wants all sides to speak openly and find common ground. He believes that the unity of the APC is critical for effective governance and the overall development of Cross River State.”
The governor’s intervention follows heightened tension earlier in the week after the Forum of Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries called for the resignation of the state party chairman over alleged irregularities in party administration.
On Wednesday, November 12, the forum members reportedly barricaded the APC State Secretariat in Calabar, preventing staff and party officials from entering the premises as part of their protest.
Observers have described Governor Otu’s move as timely and conciliatory, saying it underscores his commitment to party cohesion and political stability ahead of future elections in the state.
