Carlo Ancelotti has reached an agreement in principle with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to become the head coach of the Brazil national team for the 2026 World Cup.
According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, a renowned football journalist, the deal is valid from June, and Ancelotti will part ways with Real Madrid.
“Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil reached an agreement for him to become Seleção head coach for the World Cup 2026. Deal valid from June, NOT after Club World Cup,” Romano wrote.
Ancelotti is expected to leave LaLiga champions Real Madrid, with whom he has a contract until 2026. The Italian coach will reportedly join Brazil in June, ahead of the World Cup.
The CBF has been keen on securing Ancelotti’s services, with president Ednaldo Rodrigues leading the negotiations. Ancelotti’s experience and success in managing top teams, including Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Chelsea, make him an attractive candidate for the role.
Ancelotti’s appointment is seen as a significant coup for Brazil, which seeks to regain its dominance in international football. He will lead a team that includes players he has worked with at Real Madrid, such as VinÃcius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Éder Militão.
