Cashew Group Seek Improved Policies, Regulatory Frameworks in Meeting with Reps Committee Chairman

The pioneer president of the National Apex of Cashew Farmers, Processors, and Marketing Cooperative Ltd, Yunusa Gabriel Enemali, has canvassed support for the right policies and regulation in the cashew value chain.

He stated this today, March 17, 2025
at the National Assembly Abuja, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, Rt. Hon David Idris Zacharias.

The visit aimed to discuss key issues affecting the cashew farming, processing, and marketing sector, particularly safety standards and regulatory policies.

Enemali, a renowned community reporter and advocate for the agricultural sector, identified challenges faced by cashew farmers and processors, emphasising the need for improved policies to enhance productivity, ensure quality control, and boost Nigeria’s position in the global cashew market.

“We need policies that will help us compete favorably in the global market,” Enemali said, stressing the importance of creating a more conducive business environment for cashew farmers and processors.

He noted that the current regulatory framework often hinders the growth of the industry, making it difficult for Nigerian cashew producers to compete with their international counterparts.

Rt. Hon. David Idris Zacharias commended Enemali for his leadership and dedication to the agricultural sector. “Your commitment to the growth of the cashew industry is commendable,” Zacharias said. He assured Enemali of the committee’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote food safety, enhance export standards, and create a more conducive business environment for cashew farmers and processors.

The visit is expected to foster a stronger partnership between the National Apex of Cashew Farmers, Processors, and Marketing Cooperative Ltd and the House Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, ultimately benefiting the cashew industry and the Nigerian economy.

By working together, both parties aim to address the challenges facing the industry and create opportunities for growth and development.

As the cashew industry continues to play a vital role in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, the collaboration between Enemali and Zacharias is a significant step towards promoting the growth and development of the industry.

By advocating for improved policies and regulatory frameworks, they hope to create a more favorable business environment for cashew farmers and processors, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic growth and development.

In retrospect, the cashew group had on March 6, 2025 received it’s certificate of registration from the federal government, marking it’s formal recognition.
