The high-profile sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs continues Wednesday in Manhattan Federal Court, with his former partner Casandra “Cassie” Ventura expected to return to the witness stand.
Her ongoing testimony has been a central focus in the courtroom, drawing public attention and intense media coverage since the trial began earlier this week.
Cassie, who dated the music mogul for over a decade, broke down in court Tuesday as she recounted disturbing details of her relationship with Combs. She described being subjected to ongoing abuse, manipulation, and what she called “freak-offs” — drug-fueled sex sessions that she alleged were orchestrated and controlled by Combs. These events, she testified, often involved male escorts and took a significant psychological toll on her. At one point, she said she was required to reapply baby oil every few minutes to maintain a certain appearance.
Prosecutors say they will need at least half of today to complete their questioning of Cassie. The trial is still weighing whether videos allegedly documenting these events will be made available to the media, a point that remains unresolved.
In addition to the shocking sexual abuse claims, Cassie also told the court about physical violence. She described a 2016 incident in which she said Combs kicked and dragged her during a confrontation in a hotel room. Her testimony has painted a picture of a deeply controlling relationship, in which Combs dictated aspects of her appearance and career, down to her nail color.
Diddy, 55, faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was arrested in September 2024 following a sweeping investigation that spanned two decades. Authorities allege he used threats, coercion, and violence to force individuals into sexual acts between 2004 and 2024. Combs has denied the allegations.
Outside the courthouse, the crowd size has shrunk since the trial opened. Rainy weather in downtown Manhattan seemed to discourage some onlookers, although a number of dedicated observers continued to camp out overnight for spots inside the courtroom. One man reportedly sold his place in line for $100 after waiting in the rain under makeshift shelter.
Combs’ family has maintained a presence in court, showing up on day two as the graphic testimony unfolded. The trial has attracted significant public interest not only because of Diddy’s celebrity status, but also due to the harrowing nature of the allegations being brought forward.
Cassie, once a rising R&B star discovered by Combs in the early 2000s, rose to fame with her 2006 hit “Me & U.” Her career was closely tied to Bad Boy Records, Combs’ label, which further complicated their professional and personal dynamic.
As the trial moves into its third day, attention remains fixed on Cassie’s continued testimony and what it could mean for the case ahead. With the possibility of more witnesses and new evidence still to come, the courtroom drama is far from over.
