Celebrity chef Jameson Stocks says he was hit with a legal warning after publicly slamming Meghan Markle’s Netflix cooking show.
The chef, known for his past work with King Charles and his bold opinions, has alleged that Netflix sent him a stern lawyer’s letter after he criticized the series With Love, Meghan.
The show, which premiered last month, follows the Duchess of Sussex as she cooks, entertains, and spends time with friends and family in her California home. Despite its polished production, it was not well-received by critics — and Stocks was among its most outspoken detractors.
He claims he refused an invitation to appear on the show and later described it as “terrible” and “hard to watch.” Speaking to MailOnline, the 41-year-old said his blunt comments didn’t go unnoticed. According to him, Netflix responded with a legal threat. “I got a lawyer’s letter after I spoke out. I proper p***ed them off,” he said.
However, Netflix has denied this, telling The Independent that no legal letter was sent to Stocks.
Despite the pushback, the chef has stood by his opinion. “I don’t think she can cook,” he said, questioning Markle’s role as a culinary guide. He added that she should return to acting, where he believes her strengths lie. “People should stick to what they do best,” he said, dismissing the show as forced and inauthentic.
Stocks first voiced his concerns during an appearance on GB News, where he admitted he had misgivings about the project even before it launched. He worried that any involvement on his part might feel staged. “I didn’t like the idea of it feeling fake,” he said.
With Love, Meghan features appearances from friends and celebrities including Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, and acclaimed chefs Alice Waters and Roy Choi. It offers a behind-the-scenes look into Meghan’s life with Prince Harry and their three children.
Stocks’s own journey is a compelling story. Discovered by renowned chef Marco Pierre White at just 15, after running away from home, he built a successful culinary career. His life story is now being developed into a film backed by actor Brad Pitt.
Though Netflix insists no legal action was taken, the dispute adds another chapter to the tension surrounding the series and its reception. Whether With Love, Meghan finds its audience or not, the controversy has certainly stirred the pot.
