In a significant development, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nigerian Foreign Minister Mr. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar in Beijing today, June 21. 2024.
This high-level meeting was followed by the first round of the China-Nigeria Intergovernmental Committee, a landmark initiative that marks the first such committee between China and an African country.
During the meetings, both sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations between China and Nigeria. Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Nigerian counterpart, Mr. Tuggar, exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.
The China-Nigeria Intergovernmental Committee, established to promote practical cooperation in various fields, held its inaugural meeting in Beijing.
The committee’s first round of talks focused on trade, investment, infrastructure development, and people-to-people exchanges.
This significant diplomatic engagement is expected to boost ties between China and Nigeria, creating new opportunities for economic cooperation and mutual growth.
