President Xi Jinping has called for continued progress. He gave this charge while delivering an important remarks at a reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Reflecting on the nation’s journey, Xi said, “As we look back, we cannot but marvel at the great journey the Chinese nation has traversed from facing existential crisis to great rejuvenation.”
Xi emphasised the importance of drawing inspiration from the past to develop the country better and ensure greater success in their cause. He pinpointed the achievements made in the past year, including deepening reform, pursuing high-quality development, and exercising full and rigorous self-governance of the Party.
Looking ahead, Xi announced that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China will be convened next month to consider and adopt recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan. He stressed the need to ensure the adoption and implementation of objectives, tasks, and strategic initiatives for the plan to achieve decisive progress in basically realizing socialist modernization.
On the global stage, Xi called for continued cooperation and multilateralism, saying, “We should vigorously champion the common values of humanity, and practice true multilateralism.” He also emphasized the importance of implementing China’s Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
“We should continue to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative and, together with all other countries, strive to build a community with a shared future for humanity,” Xi said.
