The China Cultural Center in Nigeria, in collaboration with the Youth Tourism Development Organization, recently launched the “Nihao! China” Tourism Course, spotlighting the historically and culturally rich Henan Province. The event, held at the China Cultural Center in Abuja, aimed to promote cultural exchange and tourism between China and Nigeria.
Mrs. Wang Yao, the esteemed host and cultural attaché of the China Cultural Center, took attendees on an in-depth journey through Henan Province, highlighting its significance as the birthplace of Shaolin Kung Fu and the cradle of Chinese characters. “Henan Province is a treasure trove of Chinese history and culture,” Mrs. Wang emphasized. “From the majestic Shaolin Temple to the ancient ruins of the Song Dynasty, Henan is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring China’s rich heritage.”
The presentation featured a captivating video showcasing Henan’s stunning natural landscapes, including the Yellow River, Songshan Mountain, and the Taihang Mountains. The video also highlighted the province’s cultural resources, such as the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Henan Museum, which houses a vast collection of Chinese artifacts.
To engage the audience further, Mrs. Wang conducted a brief quiz, testing attendees’ knowledge about Henan Province. The quiz was followed by a presentation on four major cities in the province, including Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan. “Zhengzhou is a thriving economic and transportation hub,” Mrs. Wang noted. “Its diverse industrial base and strategic location make it an attractive destination for business and tourism.”
The event is part of the 2024 Silk Road Tourism Overseas Promotion Season, launched by the China Cultural Center from July to September. The initiative aims to enhance Silk Road cooperation by showcasing the breathtaking natural scenery, ethnic cultures, and rich heritage of cities along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
“We are committed to fostering global exchange and cooperation through cultural events and promotional activities,” said a representative of the China Cultural Center in Nigeria. “By sharing our cultural heritage, we can deepen mutual understanding and appreciation between China and Nigeria.”
The “Nihao! China” Tourism Course is just one example of the center’s dedication to promoting cultural exchanges between the two nations. Through such events, the center strives to build bridges between Eastern and Western civilizations, celebrating their shared heritage and promoting global understanding.
