CNG Bus Vandaliser Apprehended in Niger

Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested a vigilante operative Abubakar Abdullahi for vandalising the state’s CNG buses.

Abdullahi who revealed that he was one of the vigilante men assigned to guard the buses parked inside the premises of the Trade Fair complex in Minna was caught with a knife, two pairs of scissors and a torch with some vandalised wires cables from the CNG buses.

The suspect further confessed that he vandalised the CNG buses, which has been largely vandalised while parked in the Trade Fair complex

Similarly, a team of police operatives and vigilante men who claim to be on routine patrol when they sighted some suspects vandalising electric cables.

Narrating the incident, the Police PRO said upon sighting the security men, the suspected vandals took to their heels and abandoned the Honda vehicle, which they drove into the incident scene with Reg No. KEF 403 SA and other exhibits.

When the abandoned vehicle was searched, two phones, two I.D cards, two expired vehicle documents were recovered as well as the vandalised cables from the scene.

Niger State Police Command spokesman Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident, saying the police were investigating further.

“On 31st March 2026, at about 9.20am, a report received at Gawu-Babangida Div from Kabo Police outpost indicated on 30th March 2026 at about 11.40am while Police and vigilante men were on routine patrol within Kabo community, some suspected vandals were sighted vandalising electric cables that supplied power to the community.

“On sighting the security men, the suspected vandals took to their heels and abandoned a Honda vehicle with Reg No. KEF 403 SA and other exhibits.

“The abandoned vehicle was searched, and two phones, two I.D cards, two expired vehicle documents were recovered. Other exhibits abandoned were the vandalised cables from the scene. Meanwhile, the exhibits are under investigation.

“Similarly, on 3rd April, 2026 at about 7.45am, a report received at Chanchaga Division from Shango Police outpost indicated that at about 4am, one Abubakar Abdullahi 20 years, a vigilante man of Tungan-Maje Minna, criminally trespassed into Trade Fair complex Shango and vandalised electric wires/cables from the CNG buses parked in the premises of the complex.

“The suspect was arrested with a knife, two pairs of scissors, and a torch, with the vandalised cables.

“He also claimed to be among the vigilante men assigned to protect the vehicles. The suspect is in custody undergoing further investigation,” Abiodun said.
