The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has addressed the controversy surrounding Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo’s alleged comments about Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola.
A statement signed by the Convener of CCYF, James Paul Adama, emphasised the forum’s stance, highlighting their commitment to unity and truth within the Christian community.
According to CCYF, an investigation revealed that Fatoyinbo’s statement was taken out of context and misinterpreted.
“The statement was not intended to harm or insult the highly respected Apostle Ayo Babalola or his esteemed family in any way,” the CCYF stated. The forum acknowledged the significant legacy of Apostle Babalola, saying his impact “transcends generations and continues to resonate within the hearts and minds of countless believers across Nigeria and beyond.”
Pastor Fatoyinbo reportedly told the CCYF that he holds the fathers of his faith in high esteem and would never intentionally disrespect them or their legacy.
“Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo clearly stated to us in the course of our investigation that he holds all Fathers of our Cherish Faith in High esteem and with great respect and will never make or do anything to disrespect them nor their legacy,” the CCYF said.
Fatoyinbo has since apologised to the patriarch, Apostle Babalola’s family, and the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). The CCYF condemned attempts to spread false information and create division, warning that such actions “will not go unpunished.”
“The Christian community and denominations in Nigeria remain united, and we condemn any attempts to sow discord among our ranks,” the CCYF stated, adding, “Let it be known that the Concerned Christian Youth Forum stands ready to defend the Gospel.”
