Côte d’Ivoire has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the rule of law and achieving effective institutional normalization, according to a country report presented to the ECOWAS Parliament on Friday.

The report, presented by the leader of the Ivorian delegation and Second Deputy-Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Epse Couibally, highlighted the significant progress made by the country in recent years, despite challenging international circumstances.

“We have made significant progress over the past 13 years, despite the difficult international situations. “We are on track to achieving 100% electrification by the end of 2025, and our drinking water supply coverage has reached over 80% nationwide.”

The report also emphasised the importance of peace, solidarity, and social cohesion for continued progress. “We must continue to work together to improve the living conditions of our citizens, which is a prerequisite for all forms of development,” he said.

The country has made significant strides in healthcare, with a reduction in the prevalence of HIV/AIDS from 4.7% in 2010 to 1.78% by the end of 2023. Malaria mortality rates have also declined, and access to blood products has improved.

The government’s youth program, PIGOUV, aims to accelerate youth training, professional integration, and entrepreneurship, as well as strengthen civic commitment and social ethics among young people.

Côte d’Ivoire has also made progress in implementing community texts, with the country up to date on all its contributions to the community budget.

However, challenges remain, including increasing the use of the universal health care card and extending the range of services for the treatment of metabolic diseases.

The Ivorian delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament includes Honourable FANNY MOUSSOKOURA CHANTAL, Honourable SAKO MAMADOU, Honourable AKA HERVÉ, Honourable GNANGADJOMON KONÉ, Honourable AKE YAPO GERMAIN, and Honourable MAMADOU DIOMANDE.

Overall, the report highlighted the significant progress made by Côte d’Ivoire in recent years and emphasised the need for continued efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the living conditions of all citizens.
