Dangote Launches 4,000 CNG Tankers to Revolutionise Fuel Distribution Nationwide

Dangote refinery increases petrol price amide crude oil surge

Dangote Petroleum Refinery is excited to unveil a transformative initiative aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s fuel distribution system. Starting from 15th August 2025, the refinery will distribute Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel to marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecommunications firms, aviation, and other significant users nationwide, offering free logistics to enhance this distribution network.

To ensure a seamless rollout of this initiative, Dangote Refinery has invested in 4,000 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers. This phase of the programme will be implemented over an extended period. Additionally, the refinery is establishing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations—known as daughter booster stations—backed by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers nationwide to facilitate efficient product distribution.

This strategic initiative reflects our broader commitment to reducing logistics costs, improving energy efficiency, promoting sustainability, and supporting Nigeria’s economic growth. It underscores our dedication to enhancing the availability and affordability of fuel, contributing to efforts aimed at strengthening the economy and improving the quality of life for all Nigerians.

Under this scheme, all petrol stations sourcing PMS and diesel from Dangote Petroleum Refinery will benefit from enhanced logistics support. Key sectors such as manufacturing and telecommunications will also experience reduced fuel costs, leading to lower production expenses, decreased inflation, and fostering economic expansion. Stakeholders in these critical sectors can purchase directly from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Moreover, the refinery will provide a credit facility for those purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres, allowing them to obtain an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, supported by a bank guarantee.

This groundbreaking initiative represents a significant milestone in our vision to transform Nigeria’s energy sector. Dangote Refinery is committed to ensuring equitable access to affordable fuel for all Nigerians, regardless of their location, making energy more accessible and sustainable.

It is anticipated that this initiative will revitalise previously inactive petrol stations, thereby generating job opportunities, stimulating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), increasing government revenue, enhancing fuel access in rural and underserved areas, and boosting investor confidence in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

This initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflecting our shared commitment to economic advancement, stability, and inclusive growth. We extend our gratitude to the Federal Government for its unwavering support, particularly through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilise fuel supply amid global price fluctuations. This marks a revolutionary shift in the midstream and downstream sectors and exemplifies President Bola Tinubu’s bold and reformative economic policies.

We encourage marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecommunications companies, and all key stakeholders to engage with this landmark initiative. The registration process, including Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, will be conducted from 16th June to 15th August, covering a total of 60 days. Dangote Petroleum Refinery takes pride in being a vital partner in this national endeavour—a truly Nigerian company of global standards, dedicated to the welfare of all Nigerians.
