Former England captain David Beckham was honored with a knighthood by King Charles III at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle. The football legend was recognized for his outstanding contributions to sport and charity.
Beckham, dressed in a bespoke grey suit designed by his wife Victoria, expressed his pride and gratitude for the honor. *”This is without doubt my proudest moment,”* he said, adding that he had *”always been a huge fan of the monarchy”.
The ceremony was attended by Beckham’s family, including his wife and parents, Ted and Sandra. Beckham’s wife, Victoria, a former Spice Girls member, was appointed an OBE in 2017 for her services to fashion.
In his remarks, Beckham highlighted the significance of the knighthood, saying, *”I’ve been very obviously lucky in my career to have won what I’ve won and done what I’ve done, but to receive an honour like this, of a knight, is beyond anything that I ever thought that I would receive.”.
Beckham’s knighthood is a testament to his dedication to sport and charity, including his work with UNICEF and the King’s Foundation. He becomes one of the 16th former soccer player to be knighted.
