Defence Minister Reaffirms Nigeria’s Commitment To War Against Terrorism As NSA, Service Chiefs Meet With Saudi Delegation

Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has reaffirmed the unflinching commitment of the Nigerian government to the war against terrorism and other organised crimes posing existential threat to humanity.
Abubakar made the affirmation when the Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Major General Adamu Garba Laka, led the Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Major General Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Moghedi who was ahead of the IMCTC delegation to the Ministry of Defence in Abuja from Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 October, 2024.

This was contained in a statement signed by Abu Michael, Head, Strategic Communications, NCTC, ONSA.
The Minister expressed the country’s readiness to partner with the IMCTC to strengthen the war against terrorism in order to free the country and the world from terrorists and other non-state armed groups.
He urged the IMCTC leadership to work closely with the NCTC under General Laka who according to him has been utterly committed to the counter terrorism efforts, pledging the support of his ministry to all counter terrorism efforts.

Abubakar equally promised to discuss with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa to reactivate the deployment of officers of the Nigerian military to the IMCTC and other training programmes designed to boost the existing relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
General Laka also led the IMCTC delegation to a meeting with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, and an interactive session with service chiefs as part of the strategic engagement towards aggregating holistic actions against terrorism and activities of non-state armed groups.
