President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mrs Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO) for a term of four years.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed the development in a statement on Friday.
SUMMIT POST NEWS reports that NELMCO was a creation of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSRA) 2005 (now replaced with the Electricity Act 2023) designated to assume responsibility for all of the inherited liabilities of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) leading up to the 1st November, 2013 privatisation of the companies and to manage their non-core assets – landed properties, obsolete items, scrap items, overtime cargoes, etc. prior to disposal of same.
Mrs Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas has served as the Acting MD/CEO of NELMCO since the tenure of pioneer NELMCO MD/CEO, Mr Adebayo Fagbemi, ended on 8th May, 2023.
Hence, her previous interim role leading up to this new substantive appointment has created a vacancy in her previous position of Executive Director (ED), Liability Management.
Accordingly, President Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Dimla Joel Nchinney to serve in NELMCO as the substantive ED, Liability Management.
“By these directives of the President, these appointments take immediate effect”, Ngelale said.
