The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed rumours of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s alleged plans to defect to the party.
This follows a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Festus Ahon, debunking the speculation.
In a statement released on Thursday in Asaba by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC expressed disinterest in the rumours, citing Governor Oborevwori’s poor performance since assuming office.
The party stated, “We respect the right of any individual to choose their political affiliation, but the Delta APC remains uninterested in this matter, given the governor’s record of underperformance.”
The statement further criticised the current administration for failing to utilise federal allocations effectively, accusing it of neglecting developmental projects and leaving Deltans disillusioned.
The APC vowed to continue championing the ideals of progress, accountability, and inclusive governance for the benefit of the people.
