DEPOWA President Salutes “Exceptional Courage” of Frontline Troops

Mrs Oghogho Musa, President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), has hailed frontline troops for their sacrifices and dedication to national security and reaffirmed the association’s unwavering support.

Musa gave the commendation during a Fitness and Wellness Session, tagged, “DEPOWA Dance Aerobics Exercise” on Saturday in Abuja.

She extended special message of appreciation to personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria deployed in various theatres of operation.

She said the event formed part of DEPOWA’s one-year campaign in honour of troops, designed to promote morale, celebrate sacrifices, and strengthen family support networks within the military community.

“On behalf of DEPOWA and our sister associations, we send this heartfelt message to our heroes: We see you, we salute you, and we thank you,” she said.

“Thank you for staying awake so that we can sleep in peace, for standing guard to keep our homes safe, and for bringing comfort through your courage and commitment,” she said.

The president prayed for continued divine protection for officers and men of the armed forces, urging them to remain steadfast until lasting peace is achieved nationwide.

She also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to sustaining welfare activities and morale-boosting programmes for military families.

Turning to the fitness segment of the programme, the DEPOWA President applauded members for their enthusiasm and progress since the initiative commenced earlier in the year.

She charged members to prioritise fitness, nutrition, and mental wellbeing as part of national service to their families and communities.

Musa noted that good nutrition plays a greater role in maintaining health than physical activity alone, advising members to adopt balanced diets.

According to her, nutrition is 70 per cent, while exercise is 30 per cent,” she said with a smile.

She urged women to make healthier food choices, drink plenty of water, and avoid carbonated drinks, stressing that every DEPOWA event deliberately serves fruits, fresh juices, and water to reinforce the message of healthy living.Buy vitamins and supplements

Musa emphasised that consistent exercise and proper diet contribute to emotional stability and family harmony.

“A healthy woman is a happy woman; and a happy, healthy woman builds a strong, productive family and nation,” she said.

The session featured medical check-ups and wellness assessments for participants, aimed at tracking improvements in blood pressure, stamina, and general wellbeing.

The DEPOWA Fitness and Wellness programme, introduced under Mrs Musa’s leadership, seeks to promote physical health, mental resilience, and family cohesion among wives of military and police personnel. (NAN
