Nasarawa State’s Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo, stressed that the lack of unity amid political crises is hindering developmental policies and programs in the Keana Local Government Area.
This statement was made during a strategic meeting with the elected councilors representing the 10 wards of Keana on Thursday, where the focus was on mobilizing communities for online voter registration.
Organized by Dr. Elayo, the meeting served as a platform to address prevailing political tensions, foster collaboration, and discuss productive strategies to attract greater government presence in Keana.
As the political leader of the area, Dr. Margaret expressed concern over the inadequate representation of Keana, attributing this to internal discord, even as she urgend the councilors to take on the role of bridge builders within the community.
“We lack significant government presence in Keana not due to Governor Abdullahi Sule’s indifference he genuinely cares for our community, respecting our heritage and traditions. The real challenge lies within us; we must resolve our issues because external forces can’t fix our internal conflicts,” Dr. Margaret observed.
To encourage unity and promote grassroots development, Dr. Margaret called on the councilors to rally around the Chairman of Keana Local Government, Adamu Aboki, to effectively fulfill their electoral mandate.
Highlighting the importance of voter registration, Dr. Margaret urged the councilors, despite limited resources, to engage with the community to increase participation in the ongoing online voting registration, ultimately aiming to bolster the local population’s presence in the upcoming general elections.
Earlier in the meeting, the Speaker of the Keana Local Government Executive Council, Honorable Abdullahi Isa Jibrin, applauded Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo as a dedicated political leader.
He pledged on behalf of the other councilors to champion initiatives fostering unity and development within Keana Local Government Area.
