Drone attacks were reported across Ukraine overnight following the end of a short ceasefire declared by Russia for the Easter holiday.
The Ukrainian military said several regions, including the capital area, were targeted shortly after the 30-hour truce expired.
Air raid sirens were heard in Kyiv and other regions as Ukraine’s air force responded to renewed drone activity. In the southern city of Mykolaiv, local officials confirmed explosions were heard, though full damage reports were still being gathered as of Sunday morning.
Russia has not issued any official statement about the strikes. The renewed attacks come just hours after President Vladimir Putin announced the brief truce, ordering a halt to military actions from Saturday evening through Sunday midnight.
While the ceasefire was intended to allow for a pause in fighting during Easter, both sides accused each other of breaking the deal before it ended. Ukraine did not formally accept the truce, viewing it as a potential tactic rather than a step toward genuine peace.
The temporary calm now appears to have ended with more violence, renewing fears of further escalation in the conflict that has already lasted over two years.
