The ECOWAS Parliament has reiterated its commitment to advocating for actions that promote the well-being of citizens in the region through health education.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Delocalised meeting of the joint Committees in Conakry, Guinea, Second Deputy Speaker Hon. Adjaratou Traore Coulibaly stated:
Coulibaly said, “We pledge to continue advocating for actions that will promote the well-being of our citizens through health education. We recognize the importance of technology and telecommunication in achieving our desired health and education services, but we must also address the issue of infrastructure, which hinders information dissemination in our sub-region.”
The meeting, themed “Promoting health services and education in the West African region: role of the ECOWAS Parliament”, aimed to sensitize people in the sub-region through information and communication technology, reaching even rural communities. Hon. Coulibaly emphasized:
“We must tackle the issue of infrastructure to ensure effective information dissemination. I urge all members of parliament to transmit the declarations of this meeting to their heads of state and government, as their commitment and political will are crucial to our success.”
The Second Deputy Speaker also highlighted the importance of peace and stability in the region, noting that many countries face challenges from rebel activities and internal strife, hindering development. She concluded:
“Regional cooperation is key to achieving results in developing our sub-region. We must work together to promote health education and well-being for our citizens.”
