Minister Amenyo mphasised the importance of the ECOWAS Parliament in promoting integration and development in the sub-region, saying, “There is no doubt that the ECOWAS Parliament is an indispensable tool for integration and development in our sub-region.”

The representative also stressed the need for parliamentarians to work together to promote human rights and the rule of law, saying, “We, as parliamentarians, are the guarantors of democracy and the rule of law. It is our duty to ensure that the rights of our citizens are respected and protected, and that the ideals of democracy and good governance are upheld throughout our region.”

The Togolese called for the strengthening of human rights protection mechanisms within the community, saying, “Human rights are at the heart of our development efforts. We must strengthen the oversight capacity of our institutions responsible for this sector.”

The representative also emphasised the need for collaboration and innovation in addressing the challenges facing the sub-region, saying, “We must also work together to promote peace and security in our sub-region. This requires concerted action to combat terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking. We must also address the root causes of these conflicts, such as poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion.”

The representative commended the ECOWAS Parliament for its efforts in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and creating an environment conducive to job creation for young people, saying, “I would like to commend you, Madam President, for your efforts during your mandate to continue the efforts and mechanisms put in place to ensure access to the labor market for all young people in our region.”

The representative concluded by emphasising the need for investment in youth and innovation to build a better future for the sub-region, saying, “By investing in youth, promoting innovation, and supporting entrepreneurship, we can build a better future for our youth and contribute to the construction of a more stable, dynamic, and prosperous region for all.”
