Edo Governor Assigns Portfolios to New Commissioners, Urges Swift Action

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assigned portfolios to six newly sworn-in commissioners, emphasizing the urgency of their roles in accelerating the state’s development.

The appointments were detailed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, who confirmed that the commissioners are expected to assume their duties immediately.

The statement listed the new appointees and their portfolios:

  1. Paul Ohonbamu: Ministry of Information and Communication
  2. Dr. Washington Osifo: Ministry of Water Resources and Energy
  3. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu: Ministry of Education
  4. Lucky Eseigbe: Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
  5. Andrew Ijegbai: Ministry of Mining
  6. Marie Olabisi-Idaomi: Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development

At the swearing-in ceremony held at the New Festival Hall, Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo urged the new commissioners to work with integrity and focus on initiatives that would benefit Edo residents.

“This appointment is not just an honor but a call to serve with dedication, integrity, and excellence,” he said.

Okpebholo underscored his administration’s commitment to good governance and highlighted the competencies of the appointees, describing them as capable hands entrusted with driving the state’s progress.

“You have been chosen because of your skills and the trust we have in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of our state,” he added.

The governor called for teamwork and a shared sense of purpose among the commissioners to achieve the administration’s development goals.

“Together, we can make Edo State a model of growth and prosperity,” Okpebholo concluded.

The newly appointed commissioners are expected to hit the ground running as the administration seeks to deliver on its promises to the people of Edo State.
