Edo Governor Okpebholo Congratulates New NUJ President, Deputy

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Mr. Alhassan Yahya on his election as President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The Governor also extended his warmest congratulations to Dr. (Mrs.) Bimbo Oyetunde on her remarkable achievement as the newly elected and first female National Deputy President of the NUJ.
Governor Okpebholo emphasised the importance of a free and responsible press in promoting transparency and accountability within the government and society at large. “The media plays a crucial role in informing the public, shaping discourse, and advocating for the rights of citizens,” he noted.
The Governor urged Mr. Yahya to continue championing these values during his tenure. He also called for collaboration between the Edo State Government and the NUJ to ensure that journalists in the state are well-equipped to carry out their duties effectively. “Let us work together to create an environment that supports freedom of expression and the pursuit of truth,” he added.
