Edo House D-G Tasks Edo Citizens On Unity, Investments

By Deborah Coker

Abuja, Nov. 6, 2024 Mr Festus Osaigbovo, Director- General (D-G), Edo House, Abuja, has urged indigenes of Edo resident in the FCT and across the country to be united and attract investments to the state.

He made the call shortly after being decorated as one of the patrons of the Association of Edo Journalists’ in Abuja (AEJA) by the association on Wednesday in Abuja.

Osaigbovo said that some people left Edo to Abuja and other places with the hope of returning to change things in the state.

He also urge them to be committed to the cause of impacting positively on the state.

“For us here, we came into this place with a lot of enthusiasm to say, oh, let’s change things around.

“My first point here was that we have so many indigenous associations here, and I asked myself how do we unite our people?

“How do we bring our people together so that we all can speak with one voice?

“This we can do by coming together, sharing ideas, speaking with one voice and taking investment back to our people.

“We all can just have a voice because in Nigeria, Edo is very strategically located. Edo is a nation of its own. Anywhere you are passing through; you must pass through the state.

“Our state is a gateway to everywhere, to the East, North, and West. Edo is an economic hub,” he said.

The D-G said that making him one of the patrons of AEJA was a call for more service to the state in general and the association in particular.

“I am happy because this allows me to say we need to do more.

“It also gives me ideas that all we are doing was not, after all, a waste and a call for more service to our dear state at large and AEJA in particular,” he added.

He further charged journalists to live above board in their profession and as watch dogs of the society.

“As journalists, you have several roles to play. You are saddled with the role of telling people what is going on in your state positively.

“That can give assurance to investors and those outside the states who want to invest in the state,” he said.
