The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed skepticism over the $250 million investment partnership recently announced by the state government with Euro-Africa CCI (EACCI), calling for full transparency in the deal.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, the PDP alleged that the investment has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people, citing emerging questions about the credibility of the foreign partner.
Osa-Ogbegie said while the PDP respects constituted authority, its loyalty remains to the people of Edo State, adding that the party will support initiatives that uplift citizens but will oppose any act of deception or fiscal irresponsibility.
“Our allegiance remains first and foremost to the people of Edo State,” he said. “We shall stand with them where governance falters into waste or deception.”
He stated that the party would demand accountability from Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly on the management of state funds and the abandonment of projects initiated by the previous government.
“We will seek clarity on the governor’s claim of a $250 million investment from Glasgow and expose any falsehood or half-truth meant to mislead the public,” he added.
Osa-Ogbegie cautioned the state government against attacking opposition leaders, describing such actions as undignified.
“If the government believes in its policies, it should defend them with substance, not insults,” he said.
The PDP reaffirmed its commitment to issue-based politics and vowed to protect the interests of Edo people through factual engagement and constructive opposition.
