EFCC Arraigns Jude Okoye on Fresh Theft Charges, Accused of Stealing Over $1 Million and £34,000

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arraigned Jude Okoye, the former manager of the popular music group P-Square, before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja. He faces fresh charges of allegedly stealing $1,019,763.87 and £34,537.59.

Jude Okoye, who is also facing a similar case at the Federal High Court, appeared in court alongside his company, Northside Music Limited, for four counts related to theft and conversion of funds. The alleged offences occurred between 2016 and 2023.
In the new charges, the EFCC claims that Okoye and his company dishonestly converted $767,544.15, paid by Lex Records Limited for digital distribution/publishing royalties, to his personal use with the intent to permanently deprive Peter Okoye, his former partner in P-Square, of his rightful share.

The prosecutor, Mohammed Bashiru, also accused Okoye of converting £34,537.59 from Lex Records, $133,566.49 from Kobalt Music, and $118,652.23 from Mtech Limited, all royalties linked to digital music distribution, intending to deprive Peter Okoye of his share.
