Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the release of ₦50 billion for the payment of contractors whose Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) are ready.
The governor gave the directive during an unscheduled inspection of the Ibom Model Farm project at Ikot Edibon in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
He instructed the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service to ensure that all verified IPCs at the Accountant General’s office are paid without delay.
Governor Eno explained that the move was aimed at taking advantage of the dry season to accelerate the pace of ongoing construction projects across the state.
“It is important that we make full use of the dry season for project execution,” the governor said. “Please ensure that all contractors are mobilized back to site immediately.”
He also directed his Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson, to ensure effective monitoring and compliance by all contractors handling state projects.
“Monitoring teams should carry out routine inspections and report the level of compliance,” Eno added.
The governor’s directive is part of his administration’s renewed commitment to timely project delivery and prudent financial management across key sectors of the state.
