Former representative of Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Ntufam Eta Mbora, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party and formally joined the African Democratic Congress.
Mbora, in a letter dated March 2, 2026, said his exit from the PDP was prompted by what he described as a lingering internal crisis that has weakened the party.
According to him, the decision to leave was not taken lightly but became inevitable in view of developments within the party.
“I remain grateful to the PDP for the opportunities it gave me to serve at the local government, state and national levels,” he stated.
The former lawmaker also acknowledged the support of his political associates and loyalists who stood by him throughout his time in the party.
He has, however, urged his supporters and well wishers to align with him in the ADC by registering and participating actively in the party’s ongoing membership drive at their respective wards.
Plans are underway to organise a formal reception rally to welcome Mbora and other defectors into the party in the state.
His defection is part of a growing wave of political shifts in Cross River, following the recent move by former governor Liyel Imoke and former senator Gershom Bassey to the ADC, a development that is reshaping the political landscape ahead of future elections.
