Former pastor of the City of David parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has announced a significant milestone for his new ministry, The Family Fellowship. The church has secured a permanent site at the prestigious Eko Atlantic, Lagos.
During the ministry’s second service held at the Civic Centre, Pastor Iluyomade revealed that the land acquisition was made possible through the generous donation of a church member. Expressing gratitude, he used the occasion to highlight the spiritual importance of giving and its role in advancing God’s work.
In his sermon titled “Giving,” Pastor Iluyomade addressed what he described as widespread misunderstandings about tithes and offerings in today’s Christian community. He emphasized the biblical foundation of giving as a sacrificial act that attracts divine blessings.
“As believers, we must be cautious about the doctrines we accept,” he cautioned. “There are various teachings about giving, but we need to reason together and align with the Word of God. Tithing, for example, is a commandment. It is 10 percent of your income, and it belongs to God.”
Quoting Malachi 3, Pastor Iluyomade underscored the consequences of withholding tithes and offerings, urging Christians to reflect on their obligations to God. “If God calls us robbers for withholding tithes, we should ask ourselves: will any robber enter heaven? And how much is this 10 percent compared to all that God gives us?” he queried.
He also emphasized the importance of balancing tithing with acts of charity. “While ministry requires funding, we must not forget our responsibility to the poor and needy. Giving is not just about tithes; it is about a lifestyle of generosity and compassion.”
Pastor Iluyomade encouraged members to approach their offerings with intentionality, giving in proportion to their blessings and always with a cheerful heart.
The acquisition of a permanent site at Eko Atlantic marks a new chapter for The Family Fellowship, reflecting both the ministry’s growth and the faith-driven generosity of its congregation.
