By Abubakar Rajab
In the theatre of Nigerian politics, it is not unusual for small minds to attempt to drag great men into petty quarrels. Yet, such attempts, no matter how persistent, cannot diminish the brilliance of a man whose destiny has already outpaced provincial ambitions.
Hon. Abiodun James Faleke stands today as a symbol of refined leadership — a man whose record glistens like gold tested in fire, unmarred by scandal or deceit. Some, however, driven by envy or misplaced expectations, now seek to conscript him into their political mischief. They must be reminded that Faleke is not a pawn on their provincial chessboard, but a knight in the grander court of national governance.
A Man of National Calling
To suggest that a statesman of Faleke’s calibre would abandon his national assignment — one that places him at the nerve centre of federal decision-making — for a gubernatorial adventure in a state with modest Internally Generated Revenue, is to mistake an eagle for a village sparrow. Only those shackled by mediocre reasoning could entertain such illusion.
Faleke’s political journey is guided by purpose, not by desperation. His collaboration with Governor Usman Ododo is one of mutual respect, strategic synergy, and a shared vision for the transformation of Kogi State. Both men understand that true leaders do not wrestle for visibility; they work in harmony for posterity.
Providence, Not Denial
When the sudden death of Prince Abubakar Audu denied Faleke the deputy governorship years ago, many saw it as tragedy. Yet, time has revealed it was divine choreography. Providence withheld that seat not as punishment, but as preparation for a greater elevation.
Today, Faleke’s influence at the national level is the vindication of destiny over disappointment. What men perceived as denial, God ordained as distinction. Indeed, the Scriptures remind us that “All things work together for good to them that love God.”
A Cordial Alliance for Progress
The relationship between Faleke and Governor Ododo remains cordial and strategic — an alliance of intellect and integrity. Together, they embody what the ancients called concordia ordinum — harmony among leaders. Their synergy will undoubtedly translate into a renaissance of development across Kogi State.
Tinubu’s Political Logic
Those who imagine that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would instruct Faleke to run against Ododo display a poor grasp of political logic. Tinubu is a leader renowned for rewarding loyalty and honouring stewardship. He understands that Ododo is his political cornerstone in Kogi — a crucial partner in sustaining the President’s national structure.
To think otherwise is to misread the compass of Asiwaju’s political genius, for he has never been known to dismantle the bridges that lead him to victory.
The Verdict of Destiny
Governor Usman Ododo’s second tenure is not merely probable; it is politically sacrosanct and providentially ordained. The train of progress has departed the station of doubt, and only the discerning will board before it disappears beyond their horizon.
As for Hon. Abiodun Faleke, may his star continue to ascend in the firmament of public service — from brilliance to brilliance, from honour to higher honour. For destiny, once written by the invisible hand of God, cannot be erased by the trembling ink of men.
