Easter Message: Fayemi Urges Nigerians to Keep Hope Alive

Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti, has urged Nigerians to keep hope alive, saying the current challenges will lead to prosperity.

In an Easter message issued on Saturday by Ahmad Sajoh, head of his media office, Fayemi called on Nigerians to draw inspiration from the core values of the celebration in navigating the country’s socio-economic and security challenges.

The former chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) said the season offers an opportunity for reflection on the essence of Christianity and its relevance to the Nigerian situation.

“Easter is more than a religious ritual. It is a powerful story of triumph over despair and life over death,” Fayemi said.

“At a time when our nation is grappling with significant economic and security concerns, the story of Easter serves as a reminder that no situation is too bleak to be redeemed, and no challenge is too great to be overcome through unity and faith.”

Addressing the prevailing hardships in the country, Fayemi urged citizens to “keep hope alive,” describing the current difficulties as the “travails that precede a new birth.”

He added that the resilience of Nigerians remains the country’s greatest strength in times of adversity.

“I understand the burdens many families are carrying today due to the rising cost of living and insecurity,” he said.

“However, just as the sacrifice of the cross led to the joy of the resurrection, our collective sacrifices and steadfastness in the face of these challenges will eventually lead us to a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.”

Fayemi also urged Nigerians to emulate the selflessness of Christ by supporting the vulnerable and the sick within their communities.

“As we celebrate, let us reflect on how we can contribute to the peace and progress of our fatherland. Let us learn the values of tolerance, empathy, and service to others,” he said.

“By doing so, we ensure that the hope we celebrate today remains a living reality for every Nigerian.”

He wished Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration and prayed for the continued protection and restoration of the nation.
